Three words to describe me:

Happy, Honest (sometimes to a fault), Controlling (I admit this, and I’m working on it)

Message Board user name: Bsgirl

How I found the message board:
I saw a call @ pubcalls for the newest design team. I didn’t make the Design Team this time, but I liked M2R & the ladies here, so I stayed.

How many posts I have:

44…BUT…I’ve only been here for a month AND... I have been on vacation for 3 weeks!!!! I’ll get there.

What do you love about the M2R community?
When I first came to M2R, I was greeted by the most amazing group of women. Everyone has been so welcoming, supportive, and geniunely nice. I instantly felt comfortable. I do have to comment on the charms too. Maybe it’s a girl thing, maybe it is that I have a real sterling silver charm bracelet I have added too for 7 years. Whatever the case, I think the charms that can be earned are the cutest things EVER! I haven’t earned any yet…BUT I’m gonna ‘get me some’.

How (or why) I got into scrapbooking:
About 7 years ago, after my daughter was born, I realized I had lost myself in my husband & her. Brandon (my DH) still had the same active life as before we had a child. He enjoyed playing soccer, flag football, softball tournaments…all night poker games with his buds. I started to feel like a single mom & began to become a little resentful. He constantly encouraged me to find a new hobby & spend time with my girlfriends. A few years later, after My son was born and I had at least one hand free, I began to consider becoming involved in SOMETHING NEW??? I had considered scrapbooking, but EVERY girlfriend I knew would roll her eyes when I told her I was interested in it. None of them had children yet, so their sentimental sides hadn’t kicked in. In Oct. of 2005, I was picking up some toothpaste, etc. at our local dollar store on my lunch break. I came across a scrapbook kit for a WHOPPING $8. It was the 12x12 book, glue stick, set of sticker, pp’s, zig zag scissors & a pen. I decided to take the plung, bought it and took it back to work. I had a picture on my desk in a frame. I took it out, and scrapped it right there on my desk at work. I had never taken a class, or ever seen anyone elses pages. I had NOTHING to compare too! I instantly fell IN LOVE. I brought it home, and showed Brandon. He reached in his wallet, gave me $100, and told me to go for it. The next day I went to Michaels spent his $$$gift and added some of my own…LOL. It took me a year before I would go into my LSS…I was too intimidated.

How my style has changed since I began scrapbooking:

I use to scrap about six pictures to a page. Now, my limit is typically three, but normally only focuses on one. I don’t use as much PP as I did in the beginning & my embilies are less. I take longer to focus on a page NOW.

How much time I spend each week scrapping:
I usually will scrap about 4 hours after work a couple of nights a week. I go through phases. When the kids start back in the spring in fall sports seasons, my time is more restricted.

What it would take to keep me from scrapping:
oo keep me away for a long time…..Something devastating. An illness effecting me or a loved one. As I said above the Spring & Fall are WAAAAY busy. Last year & early this year I had a dry spell from NOV- MARCH. I began a new job, and it demanded my focus.

My scrapbooking style:
Hmmmm… I would say free. Not free in the sense of ‘freesyle artistic’ but FREE. I do what I want..when & how I want with no rules. A little eclectic, a lil’ tiny bit shabby chic, a tad bit county,…a lil of everything.

The scrapbooking trend I love:
I’m not really big on trends. I honestly try not to fall into them. I may try one out, but do not focus or follow it. I like being UNIQUE. I think it is a personality trait that was drilled into my head at a young age. Don’t gasp..BUT..To this day I have only purchase 1 scrapbook magazine. I’m afraid!! I’m afraid I will loose my design freedom and fresh ideas.

The scrapbooking trend I am tired of?
Don’t hate me, but I think primas & buttons are beginning to wear on me (just a little). I like them, I just am ready to see a fresh use for them. Does that make sense??? Having said that..I don’t use them very often & they aren’t in my albums. Every scrapper is different in her own way..and if she is a prima or button girl..I’m sure she loves her LO’s & THAT IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT! My MY ladies it was hard to answer that in a PC way.

When do you do your best work? day or night:
I’m a night scrapper. After DH & kiddos are asleep. I can just loose myself in it….I will realize I’m tired ONLY when my eyesight begins to become fuzzy.

What was your latest splurge:
I don’t know. My most recent purchase was a monthly kit for $25 that I LOVE, but that wasn’t a splurge! I have such a HUGE stash I have been trying to use it up.

My favorite layout, (below) and why I love it:
I think “Real Texas Snow”. When I snapped the shot of my daughter I thought…HMMMM. That might make a cute LO. I surprised myself when the LO was complete. I fell IN LOVE with the picture of her. I felt for the first time…my work had actualy enhanced the picture itself. It stood out…even with all the extra~fun goodies~ you focused on my beautiful girl. Isn’t that what we all strive for???
